About Lookabootye

Clackmannanshire folklore has a story about Robert the Bruce. In the story he lost a glove while hunting near Clackmannan. On discovering his loss he sent his lieutenant back to find it instructing him to "Go to a path near Clackmannan village, and look aboot ye." To this day the motto of our county is “look aboot ye”.

Look aboot ye literally translates to “look about you” and could be interpreted as have a look around or possibly seek and you shall find.
