Fat Bloke On A Bike
| Today (Sunday 19th Aug) an online friend of the lookabootye team set off from John o'Groats on a charity cycle run across the length and breadth of Scotland to raise money for Saidia Children's Home in Kenya. Affectionately known to us as Chinchilla, the 'Fat Bloke' hopes to arrive at the Mull of Galloway in twelve days time - a trip of around 380 miles. We wish him well and hope the generous folk of the Wee County will dig deep and support his effort. Here's what Chinchilla had to say before he left: |

Why not Lands End to John o'Groats?
“I know other people do the full Lands End to John o'Groats in about the same time, but they're not fat and fifty with a dicky ticker and a mid-life crisis. I won't be making things easy for myself: I'm riding North-South - into the prevailing wind, I'll be towing a trailer full of camping kit, and I won't be riding some fancy titanium touring bike, just the cheapest thing I could find on Ebay.”
Tell us about the childrens home
"Saidia is home to about thirty five AIDS orphans, runs a 'Granny Club' which helps grannies to care for another fifty orphans at home, and a 'feeding program' which provides one meal a day for the children of destitute young mothers with AIDS. These are some of the poorest children on earth, and they desperately need any support we can give them."
How can people on lookabootye help?
"You can give online at my site with your credit or debit card by clicking on the Paypal button, or you can print off the form and send a cheque. You can give anonymously if you want, but I'd much prefer it if you fill in the Giftaid declaration - if you do that the taxman gives us 28p for every £1 you give, and I love getting money from the tax man."
Thanks Chinchilla, we hope everything goes well and you raise lots of cash for the kids.
